Stomach/Spleen Meditation - Part one

The stomach is anatomically located in front of the spleen. The stomach is situated more towards the centre of the abdomen, beneath the diaphragm, and it lies anterior (in front of) to the spleen, which is located more towards the left side of the abdomen, beneath the ribcage.

This positioning creates a front-to-back relationship where the stomach is closer to the anterior (front) wall of the abdomen, and the spleen is positioned deeper within the abdomen, with the stomach lying between the anterior abdominal wall and the spleen.

The stomach and spleen are associated with the Earth element In TCM. When out of balance we are likely to experience:

Worry and Overthinking

Anxiety and Nervousness

Insecurity

When in Balance we are likely to experience:

Contentment and Harmony Openness to Experiences

Security and Groundedness The stomach and spleen meditation focuses on exploring the internal aspect of the front part of the left upper abdomen and left lower ribs towards the midline where the stomach is found, and then the back and side part, where the spleen is found. Each space is explored individually and then the two spaces are connected, and then finally the energy from the combined space is directed down towards the pelvis.

Whilst the meditation is generic there are options to make it specific to you, ie letting go of a particular issue you might be overthinking and reconnecting perhaps with a sense of groundedness and safety. Part one meditation will cover the two spaces individually , subsequent additions to the meditation will be added as the Earth Age Well Five Week Yoga Programme unfolds. So if you like this mediation maybe book onto the five week programme. Enjoy!!
