Age well yoga is designed to help individuals map out a pathway towards ageing gracefully and maintaining physical, mental, and emotional health as they grow older. It is safe
and gentle, helps with stress reduction in daily life, it will improve strength, balance and flexibility, and lead to you adopting new healthy habits, but perhaps above all it provides a comprehensive set of skills to help boost your knowledge, understanding, and confidence in navigating your own unique health and wellness challenges.
The Age Well Yoga experience, recognizes that each person has their own biology, lifestyle, and environmental factors that contribute to their overall health and well-being.
By understanding the factors that impact their health and well-being, individuals can take proactive steps to prevent or manage chronic conditions and improve their overall quality of life.
Hence the first step in creating positive change is to be well informed.
There is strong evidence to suggest that being well-informed about healthcare issues can help people make better decisions about improving their health and wellbeing. Here are some examples:
Improved health literacy: Health literacy is the ability to understand and navigate health information and healthcare systems. Studies have shown that individuals with higher health literacy are more likely to engage in preventive health behaviours, use healthcare services appropriately, and have better health outcomes overall.
Empowerment and self-efficacy: When individuals are well-informed about healthcare issues, they are more likely to feel empowered to take control of their health and make positive changes. This can lead to increased self-efficacy, which is the belief in one's ability to successfully achieve a desired outcome.
Better decision-making: When individuals have access to accurate and reliable healthcare information, they are better equipped to make informed decisions about their health. This can lead to improved adherence to treatment plans, and better health outcomes.
Improved communication with healthcare providers: Individuals who are well-informed about healthcare issues are better able to communicate with their healthcare providers and participate in shared decision-making. This can lead to more personalized and effective healthcare, and better outcomes.
Each week we will relate what we are doing in the yoga class, to relevant healthcare issues. Our first class in the new term will be the gut, chronic inflammation and how Age Well Yoga can help improve your gut health and reduce chronic inflammation.
