Are you as healthy as you want to be? Or do persistent challenges leave you feeling like life is running you, rather than the other way around? When it comes to your healthcare, would you rather be proactive or reactive?

Extensive research, including data from the National Institutes of Health, demonstrates that up to 80 percent of major chronic diseases—such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and certain cancers—are driven by daily lifestyle choices. 

 

Bridging East and West

 

Historically, Western medicine has been rooted in evidence-based, symptom-led practice, often focusing on illness. Eastern philosophies, on the other hand, have taken a broader, holistic view with a focus on preventing illness and cultivating wellness. 

These differing philosophies have made the two approaches feel somewhat incompatible. However, times are changing. Robust research is increasingly quantifying the clinical benefits of the practices I specialize in: Qi Gong and Yoga. 

 

The Science of Energy,Breath and Movement.

 

The overlapping benefits of both practices are rooted in their shared focus on breathwork, active relaxation, focused attention. and most importantly life force energy.

Studies utilizing Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) have shown that practicing Qigong decreases stress, hypertension, depression, and anxiety, while simultaneously boosting the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, immune function, sleep quality, and cognitive functioning (National Center for Biotechnology Information). 

Equally, RCTs indicate that Yoga yields identical—and in some cases even more extensively studied—benefits for mental and physical well-being (MDPI Behavioral Sciences).

 

Honouring the Practice.

 

Despite this overwhelming evidence, a language barrier remains. Often, we attempt to "Westernize" holistic Eastern practices to fit our modern perspective—breaking them down into isolated physical routines like a "hip and knee class." In doing so, we risk stripping away the true essence of the practice: treating the body as a unified, interconnected whole.

Both Yoga and Qi Gong are fundamentally built on the cultivation, balancing, and flow of vital life-force energy. They share a core philosophy: when this internal energy circulates freely, you experience radiant physical, emotional and mental health . When it is blocked, you often feel fatigue, pain,emotional imbalance, and when left unresolved over time this can lead to disease .

The secret to transforming your health lies in taking personal responsibility and shifting your gaze from the external world to your internal landscape. By attuning to the subtle, ever-changing rhythms of your body and mind, you can transform daily stress into insight and vital life force energy..

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for all your kindness, guidance, help and professional support during my difficult journey through the back pain.

You may remember meeting me with the sciatica and the stiffness of my body. I do smile when I think of it and your smile every time I met you gave me strength.

After attending your educational, inspiring and practical sessions, I have been following them in practice every day in my life and as a result I am now fully recovered and leading a better life. Can you imagine me waking straight, jumping, running, sitting, cycling, exercising and doing everything in peace. Just like you said ‘you don’t want to go back how you were, you are aiming to improve and become better’.
